Abstract Title of program: CASCADE Catalogue number: AAYF Program obtainable from: CPC Program Library, Queen's University of Belfast, N. Ireland (see application form in this issue). Computer: CDC 6600; Installation: Terminal at University of Sydney Operating system: Scope Programming language used: FORTRAN IV High speed storage required: 28K words No. of bits in a word: 60 Overlay structure: None No. of magnetic tapes required: None Other peripherals used: Card reader, line printer No. of cards in c... Title of program: CASCADE Catalogue Id: AAYF_v1_0 Nature of problem Air shower simulations allow one to compare the predictions of various models with experimental results of extensive air shower (EAS) arrays. Direct Monte Carlo methods are not practical, in terms of computing time, for the ultra-high primary energy(approx10*20eV) and low thresholds(approx 1GeV)now detectable. An analytic method is therefore used to predict the mean values of observables such as hadron energy spectra, muon shower size and electron shower size. Versions of this program held in the CPC repository in Mendeley Data AAYF_v1_0; CASCADE; 10.1016/0010-4655(74)90032-0 This program has been imported from the CPC Program Library held at Queen's University Belfast (1969-2019)
