A high-speed method for solving eigenvalue problems: use of the spline function in Milne's method

Abstract Use of the spline function in Milne's method for eigenvalue problems of Sturm-Liouville-type linear equations is found to provide a high-speed method for calculating eigenvalues. Title of program: MEIGEN Catalogue Id: ABTN_v1_0 Nature of problem For high energy, nuclear and other branches of physics, in evaluating eigenvalues for the Sturm-Liouville type linear differential equations, including Schrodinger equations, the conventional method of trial and error requires much computer time. Efficient and speedy procedures are desired to calculate the eigenvalues.
